Elderly confirmed COVID-19 positive after death in Dharan

DHARAN, Sept 1: An elderly person tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after his death in Dharan.


The 65-year-old man from Bhanupath, Dharan Submetropolitan City-11, breathed his last at his home earlier on Monday evening. The man was suffering from high fever and pneumonia.

A team of the sub-metropolis’ health division collected his swab samples after his death, which tested positive for COVID-19 during a lab test at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS), according to Ward Chairman Babulal Lama.


Following the confirmation of the viral infection, the sub-metropolis officials have geared up for contact tracing.


With this, Dharan Submetropolis alone recorded six COVID-19 related deaths. Five of them died in the course of treatment.
