KAPILVASTU, Aug 9: With 17 new cases on Sunday, the number of COVID-19 cases in Kapilvastu has reached 857.
Of the 17 fresh cases, 12 were detected in business persons, four in health workers and one in security personnel.
Russia's coronavirus cases surpass 850,000
In recent days, Kapilvastu district has witnessed a daily surge of COVID-19 cases at the community level. The virus has been diagnosed in public, health workers, people representatives, security personnel and government officials.
According to the District Health Office, as many as six health workers have already contracted the virus.
Following the daily spike in new cases of COVID-19, Kapilvastu Municipality has decided to restrict hotels and restaurants to operate from Monday in a bid to curb the further spread of the virus.
The District Administration Office, Kapilvastu, is looking forward to extending the lockdown orders enforced in Kapilvastu on August 6 for ten days in order to bring the situation under control.
