HETAUDA, March 11: The Hetauda Bench at the Patan High Court has issued an interim order asking the Hetauda sub-metropolis to cease the practice of collecting taxes by placing barriers on the roads.
The court verdict came today in response to a writ petition filed by a local Urmila Neupane to stop the practice.
It is said the local government continues with this practice to raise taxes along the Hetauda Bus Park’s alternative route. It is based on the contract system.
Advocate Ishwor Raj Dhakal pleaded on behalf of the petitioner while the practice was defended by advocates Madan Kumar Dahal, (on behalf of Shakti Infra Developers Pvt Ltd), Mukunda Prasad Adhikari (on behalf of Hetauda Sub Metropolis) and Manoj Prasad Gupta (on behalf of the Road Office).
