Counting votes for RPP central members to begin today

KATHMANDU, May 21: Counting of votes of the election held for the post of the central members of the new Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) in the ongoing then RPP and Rastriya Janashakti Party unity general convention will begin today.



Voting for the 71 posts of central members (elected) concluded on Monday late evening and counting of the votes will begin today, said Joint-coordinator of the Convention´s Publicity Committee Kiran Giri.[break]



A total of 147 candidates were in the fray in the election where 2,117 general convention voted for the candidates of their choice.



It may be noted that the unity convention has already elected Surya Bahadur Thapa unanimously as the Chairman of the new party. The party will be named Rastriya Prajatantra Party and will continue with the same election symbol of ´plough´ and the party flag as with the previous RPP.



The unity convention began on May 17.
