KATHMANDU, Jan 6: A corruption case has been filed at the Special Court against eight individuals, including Dr Namrata Singh, the former secretary of Madhesh Province.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a charge sheet against high-ranking officials, including Dr Singh, the former Secretary of the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives of the province. The charge sheet also names Shankar Prasad Sah, the former head of the Agriculture Knowledge Center in Dhanusha, Amar Chandra Mandal, the Agricultural Extension Officer, Brajesh Kumar Sah, the Account Assistant, Laxmi Narayan Yadav, the chairman of Yubrani Fishery and Agriculture Farm Pvt Ltd, Ranjit Kumar Adhikari, the former veterinarian of the ministry, Avinash Kumar Jha, the Agricultural Extension Officer, and Devkumar Sah, the former Agricultural Economist at the Agricultural Development Directorate in Dhanusha.

The CIAA claims that during the fiscal year 2022/23, Avinash Kumar Jha, the head of the Food Security and Agricultural Business Promotion Branch in Janakpur and Bikash Kumar Sah, the Chief Agricultural Economist at the Agricultural Knowledge Center in Dhanusha, engaged in widespread corruption involving funds for agricultural, livestock, and fisheries development programs, based on a cooperation proposal. The investigation found that payments were made based on fake bills and that goods were not purchased according to the specifications. CIAA Spokesperson Narahari Ghimire confirmed that they filed a case after determining the corruption.
