KATHMANDU, Oct 27: A self-operating car parking is to be constructed at New Road in the capital in a way to accommodate 400 vehicles at a time. 


Spokesperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Gyanendra Karki, shared the construction of car parking has been advanced considering traffic congestion with overcrowd of vehicles in and around New Road, the main commercial hub of Kathmandu.

Currently, three teams are undertaking study on the construction of parking at New Road, he informed. The construction process will move based on the study reports prepared by the groups. 


The car parking would be constructed on the land of KMC nearby Pipalbot, New Road on Public Private Partnership model, it was informed. 


The move would be very helpful to manage growing traffic congestion in and around New Road area, said the KMC sources. 


The estimated costs for the construction of the five-storied parking would be Rs 1 billion. RSS
