Constitution sans federalism impossible: Bhattarai

BAGLUNG, April 5: UCPN (Maoist) senior leader Baburam Bhattarai has said that a new constitution could not be issued by keeping the federalism aside.
 
He added that the federalism was the main agenda of the Constituent Assembly (CA) therefore the new constitution without federalism was not possible.
 

At a press meet organized in the district on Sunday, leader Bhattarai blamed the ruling parties for kidnapping the CA and hatching conspiracy to kill it.

He added that they were trying to keep the agendas of change aside in arrogance of the majority.

Leader Bhattarai added that the new constitution should be issued on the basis of past agreements. He said that CA was a place of institutionalizing the achievements of different peoples' movements.

The UCPN (Maoist) senior leader there was no alternative of going to protests though it might cause temporary discomfort to the people.

He further added that they won't surrender going beyond the CA however; they would institutionalize the achievements of the peoples' movement.

On the other hand, he added that the new constitution could be issued through consensus on May 29 through talks and discussions. RSS
