BIRATNAGAR, Aug 7: Information and Communications Minister  Raj Kishor Yadav said on Tuesday that the leadership of the government could be changed only after a consensus is reached among the political parties on key issues of the new constitution.

Yadav, also spokesperson for the government, said that the political parties should forge consensus on issues of constitution, government formation and elections in a package. "The moment the political parties forge consensus on these issues, the government will step down," Yadav added. [break]

Talking to media persons at the Biratnagar Airport, Minister Yadav said, "Only pressing for the resignation of the prime minister without offering alternative is not going to help." He added that consensus only between Nepali Congress and CPN-UML will not suffice but agreement at an all-party level is necessary to give an outlet for the current crisis.

Yadav also claimed that the PM´s resignation without an alternative for the future course will only push the country towards uncertainty.  "The political parties are more focused on power game than on the making of new constitution," he said.  "The parties have to stand united for the sake of the new constitution, he concluded."
