Confiscate Wagle's property: SC

KATHMANDU, Sept 26: The Supreme Court has issued an order to confiscate the property of former Minister Chiranjibi Wagle amounting to worth Rs. 19 million and currently put on hold at various banks in the country.



A joint bench of Justices Tahir Ali Ansari and Dr Bharat Bahadur Karki handed down the verdict on Monday.[break]



However, any amount above that would be put on hold until the case is finally decided, assistant spokesperson Hemanta Rawal said.



The verdict comes in response to the writ filed on behalf of Mr Wagley and his sons demanding an order to stop confiscation of the property above the amount fined by the Apex court earlier.



Meanwhile, the Supreme Court issued an interim order in the name of Constituent Assembly and Parliament Secretariat to not immediately prevent Sarita Giri of Nepal Sadbhavana Party (Anandi Devi) from representing in the Constituent Assembly.



A joint bench of Justices Girish Chandra Lal and Tarka Raj Bhatta issued the order also in the name of Election Commission to not compel Sarita Giri to register her party within 15 days.



CA member Giri had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court regarding the authenticity of the Party on August 28, 2011after her party split.
