KATHMANDU, April 4: Natural Resources and Means Committee of the parliament has directed the government to furnish a report within 21 days on controlling the increasing trend of using arable land for realty purpose.

The meeting held on Sunday sought clarification from Ministry of Physical Planning and Works, Ministry of Local Development, Ministry Agriculture and Co-operatives and Ministry of Land Reforms and Management on why land plotting on arable land has not been controlled.

The meeting also expressed concerns on possible negative consequences due to increasing use of arable land for realty purposes.

The committee had summoned Minister for Land Reforms and Management Dambar Shrestha to seek clarification on the rising use of agriculture lands as residential plots.
