BIRGUNJ, Jan 11: A complaint has been filed at the District Administration Office (DAO), Parsa, demanding action against the mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, Rajesh Man Singh. Mohammad Sahabuddin, Nepali Congress President of Parsa Constituency-2, filed the complaint against Mayor Singh on Tuesday afternoon.

Sahabuddin has submitted an allegation before the chief of the DAO Parsa claiming that Singh has only one son but he has now illicitly provided citizenship to his fake daughter and demanded action.

Mayor Singh has been accused of using his name to grant Rubina Shrestha, his fake daughter, a citizenship from the District Administration Office, Parsa.

After it was revealed that Mayor Singh had helped his fake daughter obtain a citizenship certificate, the matter has heated up the entire country.

By violating Nepal's citizenship law, Mayor Singh himself became a fake father and made someone else's daughter his daughter and helped her obtain citizenship based on descent.

According to Annapurna Manandhar, Mayor Singh's wife, the mayor and she have only one son and have ot adopted any other children. However, there are allegations that Mayor Singh illegally granted citizenship to a girl named Rubina Shrestha, falsely claiming to be her father at the DAO Parsa.

Rubina Shrestha, resident of Birgunj Metropolis Ward-3, has her father's name Rajesh Man Singh mentioned in the citizenship certificate she obtained from the District Administration Office, Parsa. Administrative officer Binay Kumar Sribastab has issued a copy of citizenship in the name of Rubina Shrestha on July 29, 2018.

On Rubina's citizenship certificate, her father's name is mentioned as Rajesh Man Singh, but mother's name is not disclosed. The date of birth of the girl is recorded as July 14, 2002 in the citizenship document.

In this regard, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa, Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, informed Republica that an investigation will be conducted into the matter of Birgunj Mayor Rajesh Man Singh granting citizenship to a girl by submitting false documents.

On the other hand, Mayor Singh also filed a case against Sahabuddin 11 years ago demanding action in a citizenship case.

In the year 2012, the current Mayor Rajesh Man Singh filed a case against the resident of ward-3, Mohammad Sahabuddin at the DAO demanding that the latter’s citizenship be revoked and legal action be taken immediately because he had obtained a certificate of Nepali citizenship by submitting fake evidence. Later, the case reached the Parsa District Court after being investigated at the District Police Office.

The court heard both sides and gave the final verdict on Tuesday after 11 years. Sahabudin said that the single bench of Judge Mona Singh of District Court Persa dismissed the case citing insufficient evidence.

Sahabudin expressed relief after the dismissal of the long-standing citizenship case and said that he has taken strict action against Rajesh Man Singh, the mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, who tried to assassinate his political future and character by filing a citizenship case against him using fake photocopies.
