The users committees of the Khahare Community Forest and the Aarukhola Community Forest had been locked in a dispute over the border between the two community forests.[break]
Representatives chosen by the forest users committees of both the community forests to resolve the dispute finally settled the dispute after two days of marathon negotiations, it is stated.
Efforts at resolving the dispute before this all went in vain. But this time around, the users committees have become successful in settling the long-standing dispute, said Ganesh Prasad Sharma, a representative from the Khahare Community Forest.
The representatives settled the dispute by demarcating the border. They decided that a three kilometres long path on the border between the two community forests would now mark the border.
The District Forestry Office, Rukum had annulled the registratiuon of the two community forests eight months back after the local media reported that 100 trees on the common border were felled illegally.
