Committee formed to start marking Kathmandu-Nijgadh fast track

BARA, Nov 28: A mechanism committee has been formed to start chopping the trees marked officially in the forests area that lies in Kathmandu-Nijgadh section as to clear the way for the fast track road.



The committee has been coordinated by Assistant Chief District Officer of Bara, Sundar Raj Aryal.[break]



Bara District Development Committee, District Forest Office, Nijgadh Area Forest Office, Fast Track Project Officer and different community forest groups have been the member of the mechanism. The mechanism will start chopping the trees marked officially from tomorrow, said coordinator Aryal.



The cabinet meet held on July 20 decided to stop clearing the track though the work had been started from mid May.



According to technician Rajendra Man Bhandari, Bara district alone has 12-km forest area along the 76-km long fast track road.



The government had provided the responsibility to Nepal Army for the first-phase works.
