At a news conference organized by the PADT in the capital on Thursday, the publicity subcommittee coordinator Ramesh Kuikel said the Mahashivarati festival which falls on February 20 will be celebrated in a grand manner for three days- 19, 20 and 21 of February.[break]
Member Secretary of the PADT, Sushil Nahata said various 15 subcommittees have been formed under the main celebration committee to make the festival a success.
According to Member Secretary Nahata, the devotees willing to reach the main temple quickly can take a ticket of Rs 1,000 which is provided from various 15 banks.
More than 800,000 devotees from the country and abroad are expected to come to the Pashupatinath Temple this year, Mr Nahata said, adding that more than 4,200 security persons will be mobilized and the sales and distribution of alcohol banned during the festival.
He added that the President, head of the State, is said to visit the Pashupati Temple for worship on the day of the Mahashivarati.
Maha Kumbh expected to draw more devotees on Shivaratri
