KATHMANDU, March 23: Young comedian Sushant Basyal, who was involved in a road accident yesterday, is currently receiving treatment at Madhyapur Thimi Hospital. Hospital sources have described his condition as serious.


Basyal is on a ventilator due to a severe head injury. After being found unconscious, he was administered anesthesia and placed under observation for 24 hours. He remains unconscious, with doctors stating that efforts are ongoing to save his life.


Basyal competed in the second season of Comedy Champion and is part of the production team for the currently airing third season. He also contributed to the production team during the first season.

Three other people injured in the accident are also being treated at Madhyapur Thimi Hospital but are reported to be out of danger. 


Comedian Pawan Bhattarai, who hails from Assam and was a contestant on the second season of Comedy Champion and a regular on Comedy Club with Champion, sustained injuries to his chin and mouth.


Prakriti Giri suffered a broken arm, while Rajnish Aryal sustained a nose injury. Both are contestants in the ongoing season of Comedy Champion.


Director Bishal Bhandari and Pujan Adhikari, also involved in the accident, are currently in police custody, arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Both sustained minor injuries. Basyal's family has demanded action against them.


The accident occurred around 3 AM while the group, including Bhandari, was returning from Nagarkot. Their car collided with a tipper parked in the opposite direction.
