Collaborative efforts to enhance Prithvi Highway travel during festive season

DHADING, Oct 11: In preparation for the upcoming festive season, multiple agencies have joined hands to facilitate safe and smooth travel on the Prithvi Highway.

To ensure the efficient flow of traffic on this vital route, which is currently undergoing expansion, a collective decision was reached on Tuesday. The three key security agencies, along with the district administration office, transport experts, and road planning authorities, have committed to working in unison.

Chief District Officer Badrinath Gaire has issued directives to road planning and construction professionals, urging them to promptly address potholes in various sections and install essential traffic signals, mirrors, and 'speed lines' where necessary. These efforts aim to prevent traffic disruptions caused by construction materials stored on the side of the highway.

The road offices, construction teams, and project stakeholders have been instructed to expedite road maintenance, resolve blocked sections, and enhance operational roads.

In an effort to address potential issues during the festival, the business owners concerned have agreed to ensure an adequate number of vehicles. This proactive step is intended to prevent grievances stemming from exceeding passenger capacity and overcharging fares.

With an anticipated surge in traffic volume during the festive period, there is a heightened concern for potential road accidents. Transport entrepreneurs have received guidance to conduct regular technical vehicle inspections, ensuring their roadworthiness and safety.

To further enhance safety and reduce road accidents, the police force is intensifying checks and enforcement measures. Superintendent of Police in Dhading district, Gautam Mishra, emphasized that drivers and co-drivers found driving under the influence of alcohol would face charges for indecent behavior, while overcharging would be treated as a fraudulent offense. These measures aim to create a safer and more reliable travel experience on the Prithvi Highway during the festive season.
