Dr Mahat, who is also a central working member of NC, said his party has never forced businessmen and industrialists to pay for them. “I urge you not to put all political parties in the same basket and cast aspersions at them,” he said. “You must be able to say enough is enough and refuse to pay donations.”

The FNCCI members gathered in Kathmandu to organize its 44th Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Dr Mahat said national economy cannot improve unless strikes, bandas and vandalism are regarded as crimes. Political parties should not resort to strikes and bandas to meet their political goals, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, FNCCI Chairman Kush Kumar Joshi said national economy has fallen into a shadow of politics and urged political parties to end the culture of strikes and bandas once and for all. Joshi also urged the political parties to come up with a minimum common economic concept for the uplift of national economy.

President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) Surendra Bir Malakar said businesses and industries have fallen prey to political instability, power crisis and frequent strikes.
