KATHMANDU, Nov 12: KATHMANDU, Nov 12: Clashes between lawyers and police personnel outside the Supreme Court as the agitating lawyers tried to stop Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana from entering the Supreme Court.
While a group of lawyers are in support of Chief Justice Rana, another group of lawyers are opposed to Chief Justice Rana and have demanded his immediate resignation. The agitating lawyers had earlier announced to stop Chief Justice Rana from entering the office on Friday as a part of their ongoing protest.

The two factions of lawyers were seen pushing each other which intensified the protest further. Police have arrested a few lawyers involved in the clashes to contain any untoward incident.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana entered the court from the exit gate amidst the protest of the agitating lawyers. He was safely escorted by police.
Lawyers have been staging protests for the past two weeks demanding immediate resignation of Chief Justice Rana at the call of the Nepal Bar Association (NBA), the umbrella organization of lawyers across the country. The agitating lawyers are now protesting outside the exit gate of the court after the front gate was locked by police.
