The government’s decision to remove constitutional difficulties by invoking Article 158 of the Interim Constitution through ‘unfair means’ has undermined the basic constitutional system, the NBA said.
The NBA has also asked all the concerned authorities including the civil society and media to protest the ‘unconstitutional and undemocratic’ move.
“The chief justice statement issued few days ago had stated that he would respect the court’s verdict. However, the appointment of the chief justice as the chairman on the same day when the Supreme Court was expected to serve the verdict has sabotaged free judiciary,” the NBA adds.
