Chinese national dies in a gang fight in downtown Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: Indrachowk is considered to be a very busy market in Kathmandu. It is also the historical market area of the capital, with dense settlements of the Newari community. Surrounded by various historical, religious and archaeological heritages, thousands of people visit this market every day. That's why it's crowded all day long.

A 'gang fight' took place in this busy market on Sunday at 11 am like in any action movie. The fight was not between Nepali citizens, but between Chinese nationals. According to police, three Chinese nationals were involved in the fight. 

Preliminary investigation showed that they had an argument first. As the argument turned into a fight,  one of them used a sharp weapon (knife) to stab the other two people.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Raj Mainali, spokesperson of District Police Range Kathmandu, said that the person who threw the sharp weapon was 37-year-old Fung Changyun. He said that 32-year-old Li Chuwan and 29-year-old Gan Sausing were injured by Changyun's attack. Sausing died while undergoing treatment. According to the police, two others were seriously injured in the incident. Chuwan has a deep injury in his stomach. Due to which he is unable to speak. Sausing suffered injuries to his stomach, chest and head.

A team of police personnel from Janasewa Sector Office, New Road had rescued the injured and taken them to the National Trauma Center of Bir Hospital. "One of the injured is being treated at the trauma center," SP Mainali said. "We have taken Fung Changyun under control."
