KATHMANDU, Oct 31: The government is all set to administer Vitamin A and de-worming tablet to the children aged below five years throughout the country on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Vitamin A and de-worming tablets are being administered to the children below five years on October 31 and November 1. These preventive medicines are given to the children in April and November every year.

The local bodies will administer the medicines. All 753 local bodies have made all necessary preparations to administer the medicines. About 2.7 million children from six months to five years will be administered Vitamin A capsule while over 23 million children from one year to five years will be fed de-worming tablets, said the MoHP officials. 

Likewise, nearly 660,000 children of 41 districts from aged between six months and two years will be given Balvita, a micronutrient for children, this year as part of the program implemented since 2008.
