KATHMANDU, Oct 4: The Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) on Tuesday appointed 165 officials as the Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers in all the 77 districts to conduct the elections to the House of Representatives and State Assemblies.
The election to the House of Representatives is slated for November 26 and State Assemblies' election is to be held on December 7 later this year.
The meeting of the Commission held on Tuesday took the decision to appoint the district judge as the Chief Returning Officer for the district while other judges will be appointed as the Returning Officers after the recommendation of the judicial council.
Similarly, the meeting decided to appoint second-class officers from judicial service as the Returning Officers as per the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission effective from October 5, Commission's Spokesperson Navaraj Dhakal said.
Each Returning Officers appointed to conduct the election to the House of Representatives are also entrusted with the responsibility to conduct the election to the State Assemblies in two constituencies that fall in their respective constituency, shared Dhakal.
The appointed Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers and nine other officials kept for contingencies will be imparted training in Dhulikhel in Kavrepalanchowk district on October 10 and 11, according to the Commission. RSS
