A total of 14 teams are taking part in the championship that will end on October 5. The championship will feature athletics, swimming, boxing, taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, football, kabaddi, cycling, and handball.

The participating teams presented a march-past by lighting a flame and flying balloons, and displayed a band that showcased different cultures and traditions of the eight different division headquarters of the army.

On the first day of the championship, women’s 400-meter race and men’s 800-meter race were held. CoAS Thapa distributed prizes to the winners, the runners-up, and the third-placed players of the two events.

The championship, which is being held since 2008, aims to identify the talents of army sportspersons and enable them to take part in national and international tournaments. “ Nepal Army has the confidence that it has been instrumental for the development of Nepali sports,” read a statement issued by the army on Monday.

Secretary for the Ministry of Youth and Sports, former chiefs of Nepal Army, chiefs of other security forces, army generals, officials of the defense ministry, officials of the National Sports Council (NSC), and foreign military attachés were present on the inaugural session.
