The announcement came after the District Administration Office (DAO) directed the poultry industry to reduce the price of chicken for the festival of Dashain.
According to CEF executive officer Shiva Prasad Baral, live chickens are currently available at Rs 115 per kg and the processed one is available at Rs 210 per kg. [break]
According to the entrepreneurs, the production of chicken hovers around 40 tons a day, out of which 40 percent of the production is supplied to Kathmandu.
Entrepreneurs believe that the production of chicken in Chitwan is slowly increasing after the ban on supply to the capital was lifted by the government a month ago as bird flu came under control.

Meanwhile, farmers say that they are incurring loss with the current price of egg. “It has to rise to Rs 250 a case to maintain the loss we have been bearing for months now,” said a local farmer.
