BHIMDUTTANAGAR, Jan 15: People-elected representatives and police administration have jointly taken ahead of a campaign for demolishing chhaugoths – cowsheds where women and girls are secluded during their periods.
As many as 12 chhaugoths were broken down in Bhimdutta municipality in Kanchanpur as part of the drive. Ward police office Bhimduttanagar in-charge Police Inspector Rajesh Shahi informed that the drive has been taken ahead in coordination with ward office.

Bhimduttanagar ward-3 chair Ram Bahadur Japrel said the services and facilities provided by ward office would be halted if the demolished chhaugoths were reconstructed. "Earlier too we had broken some chhaugoths", ward chair Japrel said, adding, "Some people were found to have rebuilt the broken structures".
Likewise, the demolition campaign has started in Shuklaphanta of Kanchanpur from last Monday. Local government and police administration had joined hands to take ahead the campaign, informed Shuklaphanta municipality mayor Dil Bahadur Eir.
