Chess team to leave for Greece

KATHMANDU, July 18: Nepal champion Badrilal Nepali and first runner-up Wilam Lal Shrestha are leaving for Greece on Saturday to participate in the International Open Chess Tournament to be held in Polehara City of Greece from July 21-28. The matches will be held until 10 rounds under the Swiss League System.



Ram Bahadur Thapa is the official of the four-member team and the other member of the team is journalist Radheshyam Dahal. Thapa has sponsored the tickets for the players. This is the first time that Nepal is contesting in any international open tournament in a third nation.



Nepal Chess Association president Rajesh Hari Joshi bade farewell to the team amidst a function at the Dasharath Stadium on Friday.
