Dance Director Association Nepal (DDAN) that organized a five-day workshop on Charya dance concluded on Thursday.
Charya Nritya: Dancing for enlightenment
According to the press statement released by the DDAN, there were 27 participants during the five-day workshop conducted by Guru Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya. He is a priest of one of the Vajrayana Buddhist lineages of Nepal and a ritual master both of the Charya Nritya dance tradition and other ritual forms performed by the Newar Vajracharya lineage, said the statement.
Vajracharya, who is now based in the US and teaches Charya Dance and gives performances in international forums, taught the participants about the practical and philosophical aspects of Charya Dance and different mudras (hand signs) related to the dance. In the concluding ceremony artist Rita Byanjankar gave a performance of Charya Dance.
