Gagan Thapa: This could be an expression of the desire among party cadres that NC should be able to change itself in order to bring change in the country. I also feel that this could be recognition by the party cadres for my role in the political change over the last five years.[break]
The third reason could be the result of positive thinking of senior party leaders that they should gradually hand over party responsibilities to new generation leaders.
Above all, loyalty toward the party also matterd a lot in the voting.
Myrepublica.com: How do you intend to live up to the expectations of your voters?
Thapa: This is very difficult. I cannot do this alone. I will advocate progressive agenda within the party. I will listen to senior leaders on fundamental policies of the party while pursuading them on progressive agenda.
Myrepublica.com: What is your observation behind many senior leaders losing the election?
Thapa: This should be taken as natural process. After all, Nepali Congress is not a frozen pond, where there is no movement. It is relatively easy to reach the pinnacle but difficult to remain there.
