KATHMANDU, Dec 22: A central committee meeting of the rival faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal is currently underway at a party venue in Babarmahal.

The meeting is going to pick senior leader Nepal as the party chairperson.

The meeting is taking place at a time when the two rival factions of the party are making final preparations to announce a formal split in the NCP.

The Oli-led faction held its central committee meeting at the official residence of the prime minister in Baluwatar earlier today.
