KATHMANDU, Jan 31: The Constitutional Committee (CC) of the Constituent Assembly is resuming its work of preparing an integrated draft of the new constitution starting Monday.

The CC will also try to settle the disputes over the contents of the new constitution. The CA by amending its regulations has recently mandated the CC to settle the differences.[break]

Earlier, the CC was entrusted only with preparing an integrated draft report by incorporating all the 11 preliminary drafts prepared by thematic committees.

The CA has forwarded 10 of the 11 thematic drafts to the CC along with a list of around 80 disputes yet to be resolved. Parties decided to not forward the thematic draft prepared by the state restructuring committee as they have agreed to form a high-level commission to study and recommend feasible federal models.

CC Chairman Nilambar Acharya held consultation with leaders from political parties and experts seeking feedback to chalk out its approach in the days to come.

He talked to Maoist leaders Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Narayankaji Shrestha and Dev Gurung on Sunday morning. Acharya also held discussion with leaders from other parties later Sunday.

He had talked to Nepali Congress and UML leaders on Friday on the matter.
