KATHMANDU, June 12: Constitutional Council (CC) has recommended Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on Tuesday. A meeting of the council held at Prime Minister’s Office at Singha Durbar decided to nominate the senior most justice at the apex court as the head of the judiciary.
“The CC has decided to recommend Joshee as the chief justice and write to the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee (PHSC) for the hearing,” informed Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sher Bahadur Tamang after the meeting.
After the Judicial Council relieved the then chief justice Gopal Parajuli of his responsibilities in March, the senior-most Justice Deepak Raj Joshee has been heading the Supreme Court as the acting chief justice.
