KATHMANDU, Dec 31: Thieves decamped with Rs 95,000 in cash by breaking the cash counter of Tribhuvan UniversityTeaching Hospital in Maharajgunj.
The cash was stolen from the counter when the staffers were away for lunch on yesterday afternoon.
The cash counter is located on the 3rd floor of the Hospital building.
“The counter was locked when we returned from the lunch but there was no money in the counter,” police quoted staffers as saying.
Police are investigating the case after preparing a site report.
According to the staffers, there were two bundles of notes - one bundle consisting of 500 and 1000-rupee notes while the other bundle was of 100-rupee note. The thieves decamped with the first bundle with 500 and 1000 rupee notes amounting to Rs 95, 000.
Earlier, a patient visitor had lost his mobile worth Rs 17,000 from the hopital. Likewise, guards had nabbed a thief while was sleeping at the emergency ward 10 days back.
