CHITWAN, August 3: The number of patients suffering from ‘seasonal flu’ has been increasing at the district hospital. According to the health office of Chitwan, most patients are suffering from fever, headache, body pain, tiredness and itchy throat, which has led to an increase in the number of people arriving at the hospital.

The flu mostly affects children, pregnant women and senior citizens, chief of the health office, Deepak Tiwari, informed Republica. People affected by the flu suffer from illnesses like fever, headache, body pain, tiredness, itchy throat, cough, difficulty in breathing, loss of appetite and vomiting. Also, children have problems such as diarrhea as well, Tiwari said.

The disease is contagious and can be transmitted to another person by air when the virus becomes airborne when a sick person is talking, coughing or sneezing. The health office has requested everyone to remain cautious as the disease is transmitted through hand, mouth, nose and eye contact. The office has urged the people to contact the nearest hospital and health centers and take medication prescribed by the doctors if any symptoms of the flu are detected.

According to Dr Bhojraj Adhikari, chairperson of Bharatpur Hospital Development  Committee, the risk of COVID-19 has increased again along with the spread of the seasonal flu. The number of people arriving at the hospital after suffering from fever and headache has increased. Many patients can be seen wandering around the hospital as beds are not empty, Adhikari said. The outdoor service of the hospital is overwhelmed by the increasing number of patients, he added.
