KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Nepal recorded 1,167 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday along with 224 recoveries and two deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 12,632 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 841 PCR and 326 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 6,848 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 6,127 are in home isolation, 628 in institutional isolation, 77 in ICUs, and 16 on ventilators. Similarly, 113 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,604 people have died of viral infection across the country.
On Sunday, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 615 cases of the virus. Of them, 491 were recorded in Kathmandu, 25 in Bhaktapur, and 99 in Lalitpur districts.
