“I feel happy to realize that what I had started just as a hobby has turned out to be an established field. I believe that the new generation of cartoonists will add to its significance,” said Shah. His first cartoon was published in 2014 BS and he remembers that the cartoon was satirical towards the Nepali Congress party.[break]
The exhibition displays 56 cartoons of 46 cartoonists, stated Abin Shrestha, Chairman of Cartoonist Club Nepal. The exhibition has been organized by the club in association with Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre (KCAC).
Shrestha further added, “The objective is to remove the generation gap between the older and the newer generation of cartoonists and also to ensure the introduction of professional cartoonists.” He also informed that after the conclusion of the exhibition, a discussion program between editors and publishers will be held, in order to provide places for cartoonists in newspapers. The exhibition will be held for a month.
KCAC´s Sangita Thapa said that Ncell Kalaajatra was organized to celebrate the ‘Art and freedom of expression’ keeping in mind the festival of Gai Jatra. The coming Saturday will feature a play by Aarohan Gurukul and a poetry recital will conclude the event.
