KATHMANDU, April 25: Hike in cargo handling fee will affect the ailing export sector, according to the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI).
Issuing a statement, CNI has argued that export-based industries will lose competitiveness and public will suffer more as imported goods will be more expensive. “The decision is arbitrary, unscientific and impractical,” the statement added.
“Trade with foreign countries will contract and revenue collection will see a drop. The decision will also affect investment climate.” CNI also has stated that the private sector should be consulted while taking such decision in open and liberal economy.
