CAN took the decision to hold the election on November 7 and 8 in the Eastern region during its third annual general meeting that concluded on Saturday in the capital.Organizing a press meet in Kathmandu on the same day, CAN Acting General Secretary Uttam Karmacharya informed about the decision. The meeting also formed a five-member statute amendment committee under the leadership of Karmacharya.
The cricket governing body decided to allocate Rs 150.6 million budget for the fiscal year BS 2072/73 and will provide Rs 50,000 and Rs 75,000 to the district association and regional association to run the office for a year.
CAN Acting President Deepak Koirala said that he was hopeful that International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) would release the freezed amount meant for CAN. "ICC and ACC have blocked funds as we had not conducted the general assembly of the CAN for two years, so I am optimistic that we will get the funds soon," said Koirala.
National team returns home from India
Nepali national cricket team returned home on Saturday after spending three weeks in India. The Nepali team had gone India on May 31 for a closed camp training for the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers and ICC World Cricket League Championship as well as for visa processes.
The qualifier will be jointly organized by Ireland and Scotland from July 9-26, while Nepal will play Two List A matches of Championship against Scotland on July 29 and 31.
After spending five days in Delhi for the visa processes of European countries England, Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland, the team had gone to Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh, for the closed camp trainings.
Before returning to Nepal, the team played four 20-overs practice matches against Himachal Pradesh.
Meanwhile, Nepal is scheduled to leave for England on Tuesday to train for the qualifiers and leave for Netherlands for four T20 Internationals against the host. Nepal will participate in the qualifiers and the championship after that.
