CAN awards central contracts to national cricketers
KATHMANDU, Feb 26: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has awarded central contracts to 30 cricketers.
In a meeting held on Monday, CAN ranked male and female players and determined their monthly salaries.
The new classification system introduces four grades, with the top tier cricketers of Grade ‘A’ now earning a monthly salary of Rs 100,000.

This salary adjustment benefits six players, including captain Rohit Paudel, Sompal Kami, Karan KC, Dipendra Singh Airi, Asif Sheikh, and Kushal Bhurtel.
There are six players in Grade ‘B’ including Kushal Malla, Gulshan Jha, Bhim Sarki, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Arif Seikh, and Abinash Bohara, receiving a monthly salary of Rs 70,000.
Grade ‘C’ has four players, headed by Nepal ‘A’ captain Binod Bhandari, who will be earning Rs 55,000 per month.
Other players in this grade are Arjun Saud, Sandeep Jora, and Pratish GC.
Players of Grade ‘D’ are Pawan Sarraf, Sagar Dhakal, Anil Sah, Bibek Kumar Yadav, Akash Chand, Basir Ahmed, and Surya Tamang, who will be paid Rs 35,000 per month.
In a move which CAN calls gender parity, women cricketers of Grade ‘A’ will now receive a monthly salary of Rs 50,000 under the new classification.
Additionally, seven emerging category players from different provinces will now receive a monthly stipend of Rs 25,000.
The emerging category includes Dipesh Kandel of Koshi, Rupesh Singh of Madhesh, Rijan Dhakal of Bagmati, Bipin Khatri of Gandaki, Dev Khanal of Lumbini, Arjun Gharti of Karnali, and Hemanta Dhami of Sudurpaschim.
