During a meeting with the prime minister at his office, kin of the martyrs as well as victims of the democratic uprising asked the government to withdraw the decision, arguing that conferring state honors on the accused suppressors will humiliate those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of democracy. A delegation of the Janaandolan II victims drawn the prime minister´s attention particularly to the decision to honor APF DIG Durja Kumar Rai, who has been implicated by Rayamajhi Commission for the killing of three persons at Kalanki during the movement.
“We asked the government in a memorandum either to declare them [the accused] innocent or withdraw the decision to honor them,” said Drona Prasad Lamichhane, the son of martyr Yam Lal Lamichhane of Bardiya.
According to Lamichhane, the prime minister did not specifically give any assurance to withdraw the decision, but said he would look into the matter. He told then hat the government did not want to insult them.

He also inquired about the conditions of victims and martyrs families and assured them of assistance.
Meanwhile, the families of the martyrs and victims of Janaandolan II enforced an hour-long chakka-jam from 9:30 am at Kalanki to pile pressure on the government to withdraw the decision to honor the accused in suppressing the peaceful protests. The situation at Kalanki became tense after tried to use force to disperse the crowd.
