Cable TV Federation calls for ban on possible foreign investment

KATHMANDU, Aug. 9: Nepal Cable TV Operators' Federation has made aware Minister for Information and Communications Dr Minendra Rijal that it was essential to ban the possible foreign investment in the Nepali media.

The federation delegation met with the Minister on Sunday and made him aware on it.Following the meeting, The Minister for Information and Communications said the media was a sensitive issue, and he was not for foreign investment in this sector. He added that he would make utmost efforts to support the Federation in this regard, according to JP Kandel, who was one among the participants in the meeting.

Federation Chairman Laxmi Narayan Saha said the foreign investment was coming in the name of 'simple media network' in Nepal.

There are 800 entrepreneurs affiliated to the Federation. RSS
