Cabinet Decision: Rs 600 million for infrastructure tax subsidy to NOC

KATHMANDU, July 17: The government is going to provide Rs 598.68 million as a subsidy through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply to Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).

KATHMANDU, July 17: The government is going to provide Rs 598.68 million as a subsidy through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply to Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki said that the Council of Ministers meeting held on 15 July took this decision.


Narrating the decisions of the Cabinet meeting on Sunday, Minister Karki said that the government has decided to promote Kuldev Thapa, Director of Research of the National Investigation Department, to the post of Additional Chief Research Director.


Minister Karki also said that it has been decided to extend the deadline for financial management of the Upper Karnali Hydropower Project by 2 years from the date of decision by the Council of Ministers.


These are the decisions of the Cabinet meeting:


Kuldev Thapa, Director of Research, National Research Department, to be promoted to the post of Additional Chief Research Director.

To extend the deadline for financial management of Upper Karnali Hydropower Project by two years from the date of decision by the Council of Ministers.


The price adjustment amount due to infrastructure tax on petroleum products will be provided to Nepal Oil Corporation through the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies in the form of a subsidy of Rs 598.68 million.


Due to the price adjustment of petroleum products, Nepal Oil Corporation has insufficient funds to pay Indian Oil Corporation Limited, so the Ministry of Finance of the Government of Nepal will provide Rs 7 billion in loan to Nepal Oil Corporation.  


To continue the ban on the import of 10 different items till 30th of August.


To approve the submission of the Bill to amend the Act on Commission on Investigation of Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation, in the Federal Parliament.


Approving standards for providing relief for the items destroyed during bird flu control and providing facilities as an incentive to those assigned to control the disease.


To provide financial assistance of Rs 500,000 in compensation to the family of engineer Satish Kumar Gohit and driver Radhakrishna Thapa Magar who died in an accident while supervising the tunnel of Melamchi water supply project.


To approve the release of funds collected from the public for the victims of the Jure landslide.


Cancel the filing of more than four ropanis of land in Bhaktapur, Katunje, ward no 2, in the name of Department for Management of Proceeds of Crime, that was decided to be the final offender by the Supreme Court according to Section 35 of Criminal Assets and Means Seizure, Control and Confiscation Act, 2070.


To accept as a gift the Buddha statue of geode stone offered by the Lumbini Garden Foundation.


To give approval to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal and Italy regarding the establishment of a bilateral consultation mechanism on behalf of the Government of Nepal.


Appointing Pradeep Sharma Paudel (Parvat) as Executive Director of National Information Technology Center.


Nepal will authorize the Director General of the Postal Service Department to manage the international dark shipment by entering into an agreement with 1 or more air service companies as needed so as not to exceed the rate determined by the Universal Postal Union UPU for the international dark shipping of postal items.
