A meeting of the Council of Ministers today mandated the taskforce comprising leaders of major political parties and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) to create the mechanism by today, according to Minister for Science and Technology, Shivalal Thapa.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been frequently saying that the political body will be formed before he leaves for India on Friday.
“The cabinet meeting agreed to mandate the taskforce to ensure formation of the mechanism by this evening after forging agreement with the UDMF,” Minister Thapa told Republica Online, “The mechanism will include experts, not only political leaders.”
The cabinet also endorsed a work plan related to national energy crisis. The work plan readied by the Ministry of Energy aims to end power outage within a decade.
Likewise, the meeting also discussed agendas of the PM’s India visit, but failed to finalize it.
The cabinet will sit again at 7 pm this evening to settle the issue.
