Sources said that Nepal and China are planning to announce the new height of Everest during the visit of Chinese Defence Minister Wei Fenghe which begins on Sunday.

Earlier, officials from Nepal and China had forged a consensus to announce the official height of Everest. The Everest straddles the two countries. The two countries have already accomplished the task of measurement of the height of Everest.

However, officials from the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are tight-lipped about the new height of Everest.

"The ministry will soon unveil the new height of Everest," Magar quoted the minister in the press release.

Nepal and China have already completed their data analysis and shared their findings with each other.

During the State Visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal in October last year, Nepal and China agreed to jointly announce the height of Everest.
