BIRGUNJ, Sept 6: UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) election would be held on November 19 even if Baidya-led CPN-Maoist boycotts the elections process.

Speaking to media persons in Birgunj on Friday, Dahal said, “CA election is crucial if the rights of the marginalized and oppressed groups are to be institutionalized.” He further said that the Baidya-led Maoist does not have the strength to foil the election process. Dahal, however, said that they would hold a final round of talks with Baidya. [break]

“They [Baidya] neither have arms nor people´s support to disrupt the election process,” claimed Dahal. He also maintained that there was no space for armed politics in Nepal. Dahal said the High Level Political committee (HLPC) is still taking initiatives to bring the agitating parties on board the election process.

On a different note, Dahal said his party would seek election adjustment with a Madhes-based party. “We will seek electoral adjustment with a Madhesi party that supports identity-based federalism,” he added. He also said that he would contest the upcoming CA election from Dhanusha.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal has asked the CPN-Maoist to rethink their stance. Speaking to media persons in Birgunj on Friday, Khanal said, “I request the Baidya-led CPN-Maoist to come for talks without any pre-condition.”
