BUSINESS BRIEFS: Prime starts SMS service

KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Prime Life Insurance Co Ltd has launched SMS service for its policy holders. Issuing a statement Sunday, the company said the services were started on Friday. [break]



Through the service, Prime Life Insurance will notify its policy holders about the time to pay renewal premium, it said. The notice will be sent a week ahead of the date on which the payment is due. "This will enable them [policy holders] to keep the policy enforced and therefore continue to receive the life insurance benefits," the statement reads.



The company, incorporated as a public limited company in June 2007, was initiated by Khetan Group. According to the company, its promoters, including Laxmi Bank which holds 15 percent shares, hold 70 percent of the shares while the remaining has been offered to the public. Its products include Prime Saral Jeevan Plan, Prime Dhan Sagar Plan and Prime Swarnim Beema.





Prabhu opens 20th branch



KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Prabhu Finance Ltd has opened a branch at Mirchaiya in Siraha. The branch, the company´s 20th, was inaugurated Sunday by Chairman of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Mirchaiya branch, Ganesh Prasad Shah, the company said in a statement.



The ´C´ category financial institution established in February 2006 said it is also planning to expand its services to other parts of the country this year. The company is also planning to add more ATMs soon.



The sister company of Prabhu Money Transfer (PMT) provides 365-day services including internet banking, debit card and loans for those seeking foreign employment among others. According to the bank, it allows clients to withdraw money from their accounts through PMT branches, counters and agents.



The company is an agent of Xpress Money, Ez Remit and Placid Express USA.





Traffic police get three Pulsars



KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Hansraj Hulaschand and Co, the sole-authorized distributor of Bajaj two-wheelers in Nepal, has donated three Bajaj Pulsar 180 CC motorcycles to the regional traffic police offices.



Issuing a statement Sunday, Hansraj Hulaschand said the motorcycles had been handed over on Friday to be used by traffic police in Biratnagar and Itahari. According to the statement, the company had previously gifted the Kathmandu Metropolitan Traffic Police Office with six Pulsar motorcycles for use by its Quick Response Team.



The latest addition of motorcycles is part of the company´s initiative to improve the traffic police activities and expand the program nationwide, Golchha Organization Director Dinesh Golchha said in the statement.
