Qatar Airways to switch from DIA to HIA
KATHMANDU: Qatar Airways will switch all its flights from Doha International Airport (DIA) to Hamad International Airport (HIA), a new airport in Doha, from the end of this year. Qatar Airways said in a statement on Thursday that HIA has already begun trials to test the operation of passenger facilities from check-in and immigration to aircraft boarding and arrivals. HIA, a state-owned airport of Qatar, will see more trials in the next couple of weeks before actually starting full operations. "More than 1,000 passengers have already gone through HIA for trails in the last few days," reads the release. "HIA is Qatar´s new gateway to the world."
BoK re-launches M-Paisa service
KATHMANDU: Bank of Kathmandu (BoK) has re-launched its mobile banking service ´M-Paisa´, in collaboration with Hello Paisa Network of Finaccess Pvt Ltd with additional features. In a statement issued Thursday, BoK said the service was re-launched with more advanced technologies that will help its clients manage their banking services through a secure and convenient medium. "Under this service, clients can transfer to anyone at anytime, make payments to merchants on purchase of goods and services, check their account balances and receive mini statements of their last three transactions," it said. "Clients also can pay phone bills." The bank had officially launched its M-Paisa service in December 2010.
TRENDnet launches modem routers
KATHMANDU: TRENDnet, a wired and wireless networking hardware brand, has announced the launch of the 5dBi N150 Wireless ADSL 2/2+ Modem Router -- model TEW-718BRM5 -- exclusively for the Nepali market. The company is marketing the product through Marigold IT, says a statement issued by TRENDnet. The new modem router offers enhanced wireless coverage with a unique high-gain antenna, adds the statement. “TRENDnet recognized the need of users in Nepal and is excited to offer a product specifically designed for them,” said Richard Huang, the TRENDnet Asia manager. “We chose to partner with Marigold IT because of their expertise and reach into the Nepali market.” The 5dBi N150 Wireless ADSL 2/2+ Modem Router provides both a modem for Internet access and a wireless network in a single solution. There´s no need to buy a separate modem and router, says the statement. The TEW-718BRM5 comes with a 5dbi detachable antenna allowing for extended wireless coverage. The modem router also has four high-speed Ethernet ports for wired devices and connects easily with one-touch Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
Civil Bank’s 19th branch in Boudha
KATHMANDU: Civil Bank opened its 19th branch in Boudha on Thursday. The branch office was inaugurated by Ichchha Raj Tamang, the chairman of the bank, according to a statement issued by the bank. “With the growth of population, financial activities are growing fast in this area. Hence the branch was opened to provide exclusive banking services to customers,” the statement quoted Kishore Maharjan, CEO of the bank, as saying. The newly opened branch will provide the full range of banking services, says the statement. The bank is opening another branch office at Gongabu Chowk in Kathmandu in the near future, further says the statement.
