BUSINESS BRIEFS: EBL opens regional office in Pokhara

KATHMANDU, April 11: Everest Bank Limited has established its first regional office in Pokhara.



Issuing a press statement on Sunday, the bank said the regional office was established the in Pokhara to address the growing business in and around Pokhara. [break]



The bank has appointed Ashutosh Upadhyaya, who has been working with the bank for the last 15 years, as the regional manager who will look after the bank´s branch offices in Pokhara, Kushma, Lekhnath, Baglung and Beshisahar.





NIC Bank in Mahendranagar



KATHMANDU, April 11: NIC Bank has opened its new branch at Bhimdutta Nagar of Mahendranagar. With the new branch at Mahendranagar, the bank now has a network of 25 branches across the country.



Issuing a press statement, the bank said it has also launched NIC Happy Savings Account that pays up to 7 percent per annum. Along with internet banking, the bank has also launched NIC Visa Debit Card. It posted a growth of 24 percent growth in its operating profit to Rs. 461 million in the first eight months of the current fiscal year.



The bank has also been awarded with ISO 9001: 2008 certifications for Quality system on Commercial Banking Activities by URS Ltd, UK, said the statement.





NMB opens 13th branch in Dhangadhi



KATHMANDU, April 11: In its effort to increase its reach in the western development region, NMB Bank Ltd inaugurated its 13th branch in Dhangadhi, Kailali, on Sunday.



Upendra Poudel, CEO of the bank, opened the new branch, the bank said in a statement. NMB aims to add three more branches during this fiscal year to have a total of 15 branches in its network.



The bank is committed to increase its branches in coming years as well, the statement added.





IDBL holds AGM



KATHMANDU, April 11: The sixth annual general meeting (AGM) of International Development Bank Ltd (IDBL) elected six members of its promoter shareholders to its board.



Issuing a press statement, the bank said Khemnath Dallakoti, Indra Raj Humagai, Ichchha Bahadur Wagle, Mahendra Kumar Thapa, Arjun Kumar Prasai and Dipak Ratna Shakya were elected to the board.



The meeting approved the auditor´s report of 2008/09 fiscal year and the decision to provide 10 percent bonus shares and 5 percent dividend to its shareholders.
