They have informed that she has been taken out of ventilator and is able to breathe naturally two days after she was admitted at Global Hospital in Gwarko.
Doctor Santosh Bikram Bhandari at Global Hospital, who is involved in her treatment, said her condition is still critical but she has been showing signs of improvement.
"We have taken her out of the ventilator and she can breathe herself now," said Bhandari, adding, "However her condition is extremely critical and survival of victims is rare in a case like this."
He informed that 70 percent of her body has burn injuries. Doctors involved in her treatment said they will have to observe her for at least 10 days before starting any medical treatment.Nanu was rescued by her tenants when she cried out for help. She was airlifted to Kathmandu two days ago. Initially she had been admitted to Manipal Hospital.
Mother of the victim, Indra Kumari Thapa, told Republica that her daughter's husband is over-possessive about his wife and that the two had been having problems in their marital relationship for a while.
The victim's husband Khim Bahadur Thapa is a migrant worker in Qatar and was in Nepal during his holiday.
"I was having a drink in sitting room and Nanu suddenly poured acid on her body and set herself on fire," informed Thapa, adding, ""Everyone is blaming me. I want my wife to recover and reveal the truth. I am ready for punishment if proven guilty."He has also sustained burn injuries to his feet, palms and right arm.
On the other hand the DSP Prem Basnet at District Police Office, Baglung informed that they have been investigating the case. "We haven't yet concluded our investigation because the victim is not in a condition to record her statement."
