Budget expenditure only 66 percent in Lumbini Province

BHAIRAHAWA (RUPANDEHI), July 15: In the current fiscal year 2023/24, the Lumbini Province government has spent only 66.14 percent of its annual budget.

The government allocated Rs 17.22 billion for recurrent expenditure in the current year, but Rs 10.74 billion has been spent so far, according to Provincial Treasury Controller Deepak Gyawali

According to Gyawali, capital expenditure has been more than current expenditure in the current fiscal year. The Ministry of Drinking Water, and Rural and Urban Development spent the highest budget at 77.40 percent, while the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers spent the least at 16.69 percent. 

The Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers has spent only 9.009 percent on capital expenditure. According to the statistics provided by the Office of the Province Treasury Controller, the provincial government has been able to spend only 66.34 percent of the total budget of Rs 33.84 million allocated for the current fiscal year which ends today.
