Budget allocated for e-sports is not for any particular organization: Mayor Shah

KATHMANDU, July 14: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balendra Shah has said that the budget allocated by the metropolis for e-sports is not meant for any particular organization or sport.

KATHMANDU, July 14: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balendra Shah has said that the budget allocated by the metropolis for e-sports is not meant for any particular organization or sport.


Mayor Shah expressed his views on social media stating that the media's response to the issue of budget had drawn his attention. “The budget allocated for 'E-Sports' is not for any particular organization or game," he wrote, "E-Sports players can also increase the dignity of the nation. The metropolis has allocated a budget to make it organized and creative.”

He said that the budget will be implemented in a transparent manner by adopting the procedure prescribed by the law. "The metropolis will not engage in illegal or immoral acts, such as ensuring for certain institutions or certain sports," he added.


Mayor Shah has been criticized on social media as it is said that the KMC has allocated Rs 10 million for the benefit of Victor Poudel, the operator of the popular Facebook page ‘Routine of Nepal Bandha’, which helped him in the election, in the name of e-sport.
